이스라엘 중부 카디마 졸란에 사는 농부 아리엘 셰히 씨(샤이 씨)는 12일(현지 시간) 자신의 주먹보다 큰 딸기를 수확했다.
이 딸기는 세계에서 가장 무거운 딸기로 기네스북에 등재됐다 공식 측정 결과 무게는 289g으로 보통 딸기의 5배 정도였고 길이는 18cm, 둘레는 34cm였다.

여기에다 예년보다 크게 떨어진 겨울 기온이 과육의 크기를 더 크게 만든 데 영향을 미쳤다.
기네스의 공식 기록 측정에 증인으로 참여한 다이 박사는 딸기 시즌인 1월 말2월 초에 현지 날씨가 유난히 추웠다. 이 때문에 개화에서 생장까지 기간이 45일 이상 길어졌고 그 덕분에 완전히 무르익었을 때 커졌다고 밝혔다.
한편 이번 기네스 기록 경신 전까지 가장 무거운 딸기는 일본 농부가 2015년 생산한 아마오우 250g 품종이었다.
