‘할로’는 미국 가수 비욘세트의 세 번째 스튜디오 앨범인 <I Am… Sasha Fierce>의 수록곡으로 비욘세트가 작곡·작사하고, 비욘세르가 프로듀싱했다.
먼저 이 앨범 <I Am…> ‘Sasha Fierce’는 Beyoncé의 정규 앨범 중 상업적으로 가장 성공한 앨범으로, 그녀는 그녀의 경력 전체에서 가장 정점의 최전성기를 누렸다. 그녀의 외모도 이때가 절정이었던 시기여서 오히려 어린 디스티니스차일드 시절과 비교하면 완성된 절정의 아름다움을 보여준다.
실제 본 앨범에서 가장 큰 히트를 친 곡은 ‘Single Ladies’로 강력한 한 방에 전 세계를 뒤흔든 반면, ‘Halo’ 이 곡은 싱글 발매 당시에는 빌보드 HOT100에서 5위를 차지한 우수한 성적의 히트곡에 불과했다.
하지만 꺼지지 않는 잔불처럼 예상외로 엄청난 롱런에 성공하며 베스트셀러가 아닌 스테디셀러로 메가히트를 달성하는데 유튜브 조회수 13억뷰를 향해 달리고 있고, 스포티파이로는 2000년대 여가수 노래 중 가장 높은 기록인 스트리밍 8.5억회를 넘어 디지털 싱글 세일즈 1300만유닛을 기록하며 명실상부한 그녀의 최대 히트곡이 됐다.
이 곡은 상복도 많아 제52회 GRAMMYAWARDS에서 Record of the Year에 노미네이트되었으며, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance 부문을 수상하였으며, 2009년 MTV 유럽 뮤직 어워드에서 최우수 가상을 수상하는 등 수많은 시상식에서 수상했다.

첫 번째 디스크인 <Iam>은 평소의 차분한 Beyoncé 그녀 자신의 삶을 엿볼 수 있도록 Barbara Streis and(바브라 스트라이샌드), Carpenters(카펜터스)와 선을 긋는 70년대 어덜트 컨템퍼러리 팝을 R&B와 접목시켰다고 한다.
두 번째 디스크인 <Sasha Fierce>는 무대 위에서 발현하는 숨겨진 또 하나의 자아(Alter Ego)를 표현한 것인데, 현 시대의 메인스트림 Dance-Pop으로 구성되어 있다.
